Location and transport

Best connectivity

The Rhine-Hunsrueck county extends from the Airport Frankfurt-Hahn in the west up to Rhine in the east and from the slopes of the Moselle River in the north up to the forest ridges of the Soonwald in the south. In the east, the significant arterial roads traverse through the region. The Rhine portrays an equally important north-south connectivity as the most significant waterway of Europe, like the railway line along the river and the Expressway A61 at the edge of the heights of Hunsrueck.

The Airport Frankfurt-Hahn eventually connects the region with the whole of Europe and is for many, a decicive location factor, which works in favour of the Rhine-Hunsrueck. Through the rapidly progressing expansion of the four-lane Federal Highway B 50 from the A 61 to the airport, this east-west axis will be significantly revaluated upwards. The scheduled reactivation of the railway line from the Rhine valley to Hahn will provide for a further improvement in accessibility.
