Social pedagogical assistance for trainees

Situation

Despite the going down number of students, the number of young people who need support and attendance by the transition process from school to traineeship, stays constant or even goes up. Hereby it is speaking of students who need help because they cannot find trainee place after finishing the secondary school due to behaviour problems and or limited performance. Furthermore this group is missing the motivating “parents’ house”. In the same time for the companies it becomes more and more difficult to find well qualified students.

A social pedagogical assistance can make it possible for those students to graduate successfully such kind of trainings. A special aid will be offered to the companies in order to facilitate them by hiring such students. That is why the Regionalrat Wirtschaft created a position in „social pedagogical assistance“ for trainees.

Target settings

integration of young and motivated people, who need help, into company trainings through purposive assistance
disburdenment of the companies that train such young people by supporting the individual main stability (without intervention into the companies’ processes)

Target groups

Trainees, who need social pedagogical assistance during their traineeship as attendance and as facilitation for the companies. The selection of the young people is proceeding in cooperation between parents, school and the relevant institutions.

Tasks of the social pedagogical attendance

Fixed contact point for the companies in case of problems (a phone call is enough)
Every day’s support
Support by problems (crisis intervention)
Development demanding consultation and support in special/exceptional cases
Parents work (transparency by the qualification processes, support by the sustainable integration)
Behaviour training
Cooperation and exchange of information with the important stakeholders in the domain of vocational guidance for young people
